CLASS OF 2009-2010






Jenna Ashton, MS, ATC, MEd

Jenna is originally from Eagan, Minnesota. She attended the University of Iowa where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. After graduation she moved across the country to attend graduate school at The Pennsylvania State University. Where she served as a Graduate Assistant ATC and through her experience gained a wealth of clinical knowledge and professional growth. Jenna enjoys traveling, running, walking her dog Kyra, and spending time with family and friends. She is excited about the upcoming year and is willing to partake in any new outdoor experiences Colorado has to offer.




Michael Gnacinski MS, ATC

Mike grew up just southwest of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended and graduated in 2007 from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire majoring in Athletic Training with a minor in Gerontology. During his time in Eau Claire, he interned with the Eau Claire Express baseball team of the Northwood's league, as well as the Minnesota Twins organization of MLB. He moved back towards Milwaukee after undergrad to pursue a Masters degree at Concordia University Wisconsin focusing in Rehabilitation Science. He served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Concordia for two years working with Tennis, Wrestling, Hockey, and Baseball the first year, and working at a local high school the second year. In his spare time he enjoys participating in many recreational sports especially soccer. He is excited to be in Vail for the year and learn the new activities the mountain west has to offer.




Micum McIntire, MS, ATC, OTC

Micum come to Vail from New Hampshire. He has previously worked with multiple high school, college, and professional sports. Micum received his Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from the University of Vermont, and his Master's degree in Athletic Training from Ohio University. He has a passion for skiing and continues his research in injury prevention for alpine skiers. Micum is an avid skier and sailor. He looks forward to spending quality time in the mountains.




Karen Miller, ATC

A long time fan of the University of Michigan Karen graduated in 2007 and was asked to remain as a staff athletic trainer with women's water polo. Karen was a guest lecturer at The 2007 Global Athletic Training Seminar in Beijing China. She then moved to the clinic setting as the director of rehabilitation at a private practice physical therapy center while also serving as a staff athletic trainer for Chelsea Community Hospital's outreach program. Karen is excited to improve her ski skills while here in Vail and plans to take up mountain biking and rock climbing.




Grant Norte, MEd, ATC, NREMT-B, CSCS

Grant grew up in Southern California and graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine from California Lutheran University in 2008. Upon leaving California, Grant received his M.Ed. in Athletic Training from the University of Virginia in 2009, where his primary responsibilities included coverage of football, cheerleading, and dance. Research interests include neuromuscular adaptations following knee joint injuries as well as methods of assessing quadriceps activation. In his spare time, Grant enjoys playing sports, exercising, and snowboarding. He looks forward to all of the outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer.




Kevin Zakielarz, ATC

Transplanting from Baltimore, Kevin is excited to start living the high elevation lifestyle enjoying Cycling, Skiing, and trail running amongst others. While living in Maryland Kevin was a staff member at the United States Naval Academy. A 2007 Graduate of Boston University, he spent the '07 season as an assistant athletic trainer and strength coach in with the Boston Red Sox Organization. Kevin is currently completing the MBA program at the University of Baltimore with a concentration in health systems management. He is also the sports medicine consultant to the US Marshal Service medics and Special Operations Group. He enjoys long walks on the beach and extreme candling in his spare time.
