
William I. Sterett, M.D. is the Head Team Physician for the United States Women's Alpine Ski Team and a Partner at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado. He is also the United States Medical Consultant to the International Federation of Skiing ( FIS ).
Dr. Sterett earned his medical degree at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine,
where he also completed his orthopaedic residency training. Two fellowships followed, the first
in knee and shoulder sports medicine at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic and a second in trauma and joint
preservation in Bern, Switzerland and Hannover, Germany.
A member of a number of professional societies and organizations, including the American Orthopaedic
Society for Sports Medicine, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Arthroscopy
Association of North America. Dr. Sterett is also a Diplomate of the Board of the American Board
of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has contributed to textbooks, and his work has been published in the Journal
of Orthopaedic Trauma, Medicine & Science in Sports and Exercise, Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery,
American Journal of Sports Medicine and the Journal of Trauma. In addition, Dr. Sterett has
presented at many conferences worldwide.
